Hey everyone,

I'm finally a senior in college and I've actually convinced my Professors to allow me to develop an online video game journalism blog as a method for proving my educational goals are complete!

I've just posted the first real review of many to come in the future. I don't really have any sort of gimmick or anything, but I'm working on reviews that are a little bit more in depth from someone with, I hope, a bit more gaming credibility (check the first image of the DA2 review).

If any of you would be willing to read it and comment, that would great. I know it's quite a read, but I think most of you will find it interesting even if you have played it. Feel free to comment here or at MyIGN.

Thanks!

Thanks for the input! That's what I'm looking for too. I know not everyone will agree but I'm just looking to make it flow together fairly well and maybe look a bit deeper in to the game than some reviewers do. I was actually inspired to do this by the IGN review of Dragon Age 2, which I thought wasn't very good, in large part due to the 'full disclosure' blog post by the editor who wrote the review

yes, it does flow together well.

the ign reviews are terribly biast, the developers pay them to give them 8/10+

Disagreed with some things, but you explain yourself and have a strong expressive stance.

It could use a bit of formatting. The paragraphs are a tad long and breaking them up a little bit more will help the reader stay focused and less likely to lose interest.

Also, your alignment suddenly changes from left to center in the middle of the review for some reason. A little bit more proofreading will go a long way. I also hope you're a Comp Sci major or something along those lines. God help you if you're studying English. :/

I always take scores and put them on a scale that makes more sense than an arbitrary number out of 10. If you say "9/10" then I expect 90% of people that play this game will like it. Honestly, that's a super bold statement. Perhaps with DA:0; can't see that with DA2.

Appreciate the recommendations on formatting, I didn't realize it did that, I'll have to look at it again.

And yeah, scores are the worst part of the review, but it's all subjective. I usually look at things that way too, and I don't think it's that unreasonable that 90% of people who decide that they might like Dragon Age 2, and therefore play it, actually will like it.

Also yeah, the IGN review seems kind of negative on the whole affair and it gets an 8.5. Kind of weird.

I have been enjoying the game so far as well. I actually have 42 hours
in so far with a warrior and a mage, playing both in nightmare. I struggled most with my warrior starting at the end of act 1. Put him aside for now and trying to complete the game on my mage. I really do not get it why folks are not liking the game. I agree it is different than DA:O - some good, some bad - but ultimately it all nets out.

A bit long for my liking but the writing is very good. I , like others in this thread, have a different opinion on the game and think that it does not deserve to be called Dragon Age. There is too much randomness associated with Origins that has not purpose. You gave it 9 I would give it 6 / 10.
