PC turns on by itself

Yeah, it does. It's kinda time related, like 1:00 at night and about midday. Is this some system bug, cause I've checked the BIOS and it doesn't have the timer on. Also automatic updates are set to manual, so it's not that. When the PC does turn on it doesn't do anything, just sits there. Could someone help please...

Unrelated, but an issue: I can't arrange the icons the way I want in a folder. It's set to large icons, sort by name(can't turn it off) and unsorted. Any way i could move the icons around the way I want?

Is the pc actually off or on standby?

Sounds like memory issues, have you run memtest?

You did notice it says "turns on", right?

Also the memory is fine. Like loose timings and high volts.

Worth checking that. Also are you hooked up to a UPS? those generally have options for shutting down/turning on equipment.

That's the times the virus turns on your computer to upload porn to the gateway it's connected to.

You might want to check if wake on ring/wake on LAN, or any other wake on events are enabled in your BIOS.

if your cmputer is in stand by it will turn on if there is a task the computer has to do
aka disk defrag, anti scan and what not mine does it every tuesday night at 328 am.

1. Wake on LAN is off.
2. I set it to hibernate to turn it on faster.
3. I do hear moans when it turns on, so if anyone know the number(was it 1-800-ECTO) for Ghost Busters I would really appreciate it.

Does it turn on by itself even if you put the PC in shutdown?

maybe your power switch is short circuited? i recommend you to check the switch cables starting from motherboard to the button.

It's probably coming out of hibernation to run some program/service.

I'd guess it's something like that. Make sure you have Windows Disk Defragmentor set to not "run on a schedule", and turn off any similar third party app schedulers, like the ones on anti-virus/spyware programs.
