PC3200 in place of PC2100 ?

I gotta upgrade my step sons Dell 4400 cause its slower than a snail.
Its got 256megs of PC2100. Instead of adding more PC2100, can I upgrade it with PC3200 instead? Thanks

Appreciated. I'd much rather use PC3200 so I can use it latter after the old Dell get replaced down the line.
