PCI-E 1.1 8600GTS on PCI-E 2.0 P5Q Series?!

OK i was reading some reviews on the P5Q SE and P5Q Pro. And some people had stated that they could not get their 8600 GT to work due to not being able to use PCI-E 1.1 cards on PCI-E 2.0 mobos?
Is this true and has the problem been fixed and will my 8600 GTS work any better?

Any answers would be appreciated

If i cant get it to work with asus can you reccomend a gigabyte board it would work with?

PCI-E 2.0 is backwards compatible with 1.1. You shouldn't have any problems with it, since the 8600 can't use all the bandwidth of 2.0.

I am aware of this but it seems that there is some kind of fault in at least some of the asus p5q's. read this: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/...8600-boot-ever and this http://www.hardwareproblems.com/quic...ate-issue.html

Interesting, it looks like a fairly well-documented problem... One poster said they could get it to boot if they applied pressure to the card (they said "bend" though I'm not sure how to take that) while booting up the computer--perhaps there is a very very slight difference in PCI-E 2.0 slots (ever so slight) on the P5Q board, and perhaps the 8600gt is just short enough, or one of the contacts on the card is *just* not making contact with the slot--whatever the reason, it seems to me that if you plan on keeping the 8600gt for a while, you should consider a different motherboard. Or you could upgrade your card--that's always fun!
Looks like a particular problem with that board because like posted above the technologies are backwards compatible. The physical PCIE slot is the same there is no change it's a change in the amount of bandwidth the bus can handle.
So what mobo would you reccomend for OC'ing the E5200 Besides the P5Q's i have already looked at a P5KC. I Just want a better mobo than my current P5N-E SLI that has a lot of FSB holes.
