Okay, well Im building this $300 pc for my cousin and im thinking about using this mobo;

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128357

and it say it has pci-e 16x, now my question is, can it use pci-e 2.0? Im not that clear in the compatibility.

Also, if you know of a good mobo in that price range thats good for overclocking thatd be cool, i plan on using the e5200 and making this a overclock machine

its 100% backwards compatable, dont worry, you will have NO issues. How do I know? this is my second 2.0 card ive had running on a pci-e 1.1 mobo, no issues what so ever.
edit: why not go for this, only $7 more dude. SOOOOOOOOO worth it.

You really cant beat that deal.
pcie 1.0 and 2.0 are compatable with each other
a pcie slot is a pcie slot

good luck!

So you gonna go with the $60 P45 i linked? buy it as soon as you can, open box items sometimes have very very low stock (like 1-2 units) So try to get it asap!

thats not true, PCIe 1.0 is not 2.0 combatable, only PCIe 1.1 and 2.0 interchage properly. Remember the 8800GT problems with the K8T890 chipsets and the 925/915 chipsets, ranging issues with stability. But I wouldnt worry thats a 1.1 board
it will work but not to its full potential. done deal.
