my dfi board has a way to up the mhz for the pcie slot. can someone tell me what increase, if any, can come from upping the pcie bus? Or any problems i might have by upping the pcie slot.

No it doesn't garner any kind of performance increase. The only reason you should have to turn it up would be if your computer will not display video on POST. Other than that you should keep it locked to 100MHz.
