Only a select few will be able to pre-order Google Glass in the US only, if your up for the $1500 price tag. I think its an interesting gadget, but not impressed with its abilities.

When Google announced Glass almost a year ago, a concept video was released showing what sort of features the company wanted to incorporate into the reality-augmenting gear. Today, Google released a video preview that shows how its Google Glass eyewear computer actually works, demonstrating a new interface as well as details on previously unknown functionality.

So what happened to full lens augmentation? I was expecting something that would be able to use the full lens on both eyes. Sorry but that little square in the top right corner is not worth $1500.

Its like any piece of new tech. Overpriced and underdeveloped. IMO this will be for all those who just have to have the latest tech. Remember the price of computers and cell phones when they first came out. Now we look back and shake our heads. But, its opening a new door for personal communications and Data Barons (ie ISPs). Just imagine the amount of bandwidth all this video streaming is going to eat up. $$$$$ What Google needs to do now is to develop better video compression.

In the same boat. A little tiny display in the upper right with only a small amount of options and information to display is far from worth it. Novelty item at best now. When it can start displaying Google maps on the street as you're walking or driving then I'll be throwing $1500 at them. The preliminary videos were very promising and the tech just has to get to that point.

Considering people are already being constantly distracted by their phones this actually makes it all less of a distraction. You can still get all the info we seem to crave without burying your face in the screen of a smartphone.

Honestly, the guy in the video just sounds grumpy lol

People said the same thing about smartphones and so many other things that are a staples of society today. Need I dig up the Bill Gates quote about never needing more 64kB of RAM?

I won't be preordering it, but I expect the price to have dropped below $1000 and a decent library of apps to have evolved for it by the end of next year, and I fully expect to have one by then.
