What is the highest Vcore for the Preslers? Is it the same as for the Prescott's?

Prescott is about 1.525

AFAIK, all 65nm CPUs require less Vc than 90nm.

I think I've seen most 920s do 4.0ghz with less than 1.5v.

I'm doing 4.266Ghz with 1.34v core. I think it needs higher than 1.4 but probably less than 1.5v to run at 4.5Ghz though and I didn't want to push it because of the heat.

Already running into issues with it? Id say stay under 1.4, your board will go alot higher the that(1.7vcore) but you shouldnt have to go much over stock iif its true what everyone has said.

I am at 1.375, but I was wondering how much farther I could push it. Temps do seem to be a problem because it is at 37C idle and 44 load.

I have not had time to do full stress test on this though.

Your temps seem pretty good to me, @ 4.193 Im running a dual Prime95 @ 47c and thats with alot of Vcore. Your load temps are only 7c over your idle which means your cooling is doing a good job. BTW what kinda clock have you hit so far?

I guess this CPU doesnt run much cooler then mine!!

BTW I might have to get 1 just to see what the breaking point is.

I am running at 4.55Ghz (325*14). My goal is for 4.76 (340*14) as I think my memory and motherboard can easily hit that (DDR2-800, P5WD2-E Premium). I think my temps are safe upto about 55-60C Load.

Sure man, rumor is the 9XX will see a price drop March 24th (thanks Wowza). I am not sure how much of a price drop, but Wowza said that the 930 will be around current 920 prices. I bought the 920 to hold me over until Conroe. Intel is going to stop producing these 9XX chips by the end of April. Conroe will be priced from $180 to $500 with the XE model around $800. The OCer's dream (2.66Ghz model) will be around $350.

I didnt get all my parts at the same time. So I will list the part, date of purchase, and location of purchase.

P5WD2-E Premium $220 www.newegg.com March06
Intel PD 920 $255 www.newegg.com March06
EVGA 7900GT $300 www.newegg.com March06
WD Raptor 74GB 10K RPM $130 www.newegg.com DEC05
Patriot Extreme 1GB DDR2-800 $120 www.newegg.com MAR06
Antec SmartPower 2.0 500W $80 CompUSA DEC05
Sony DVD Burner $38.99 www.newegg.com DEC05
Watercooling Parts were about $250 (MCP655, Apogee, MCW60, Heatercore, 4x 120mm 96CFM Fans, custom Resivoir, PrimoFlex tubing)

If you want to build a system like mine on a budget, and you want it to be Conroe proof, this is what I recommend:

P5WD2-E Premium $222

Pentium D 920 $252

Patriot DDR2-800 1GB $120

7900GT $300

SunBeam NUUO 550W SLI $79

Total for core components: $973

Pick and choose case, cooling, and optical drives. I recommend a Big Typoon for $50.

Intel is pricing the Conroe VERY aggresively because they have had disapointing Q4 2005 and Q1 2006. They hope to take back the performance, mainstream, price, and performance/watt crown with Conroe.

Conroe Models:

E6900 XE 3.33Ghz 1333FSB 4MB l2 $825
E6800 2.93Ghz 1066FSB 4MB l2 ???
E6700 2.66Ghz 1066FSB 4MB l2 $489
E6600 2.40Ghz 1066FSB 4MB l2 $315
E6400 2.13Ghz 1066FSB 2MB l2 $230
E6300 1.86Ghz 1066FSB 2MB l2 $190

The E6700 is definately the best option, as it easily beats a Overclocked FX60 at stock settings. The E6600 is probably the equal to a FX60.

Edit:

uberjon please use proper grammer. It is much harder to read your post, and they look less professional that way. Do yourself a favor, and take the time to use proper grammer.

I will, I promise, just as soon as I have access to my beloved computer. (I am using my IBM T23 right now, while up north).

A stock PD 2.8 is just about twice as fast, on a 3dMark06 CPU test a stock PD 2.8 hit around 1358 marks, while the Sempron 3000+ scored around 685 marks.

Stock about 2x, overclocked 3-4X, but IDK

My motherboard will work with Conroe, vista, and DX10 cards. It is a safe and pretty affordable upgrade.
