i had never heard aboutv this processor but now i ve just benchmarked it.it did 5612 pc mark05.<br />
i hve to ask:there is sth strange about the freq .it is supposed to be clocked at 3.4 but cpuz shows me just2.4ghz on both cores.is this ok?<br />
thats my first approach to pentium d and i dont know the smallest thing about them.

Maybe it throttles back when idle to save power and reduce temps.<br />
I know my P4 and E6600 do.

you mean the benchmark has run @3.4ghz,hasnt it?

Anyways your CPU has EIST enabled, thats why it reads at 2.4ghz. Disable speedstep in the boards bios and it wont do that anymore, it is a power saving feature so no sweat!!

I don't think it's recommended to have EIST and/or C1E disabled. If any, it should be enabled at all times whenever possible.<br><br>
I have my 945 OC'd to 4.51ghz using EIST and no problem. BTW, <b>idi</b> what are you waiting for to overclock that Pentium D 945 to at least 4.20ghz? Preslers can handle 250fsb with stock Vc and practically running at the same temps as stock speeds.

thank you for the suggestion nasgul but that pentium d is not mine and the owner has ho intentions to oc it!<br />
main reason i posted this thread was that this was a "rare" cpu,it wasnt at the comparison chart of tomshardware.com.thats it!<br />
now i see 945 is a good ocer!<br />
