Well I final got all my parts in, and got my Build completed today. After setting everything up I started working on the overclocking. I was under the impression that an ES(engineering sample) CPU had unlocked multipliers, however while in bios I cant adjust the multiplier. It says min14/max14, so Im guessing this being a ES version makes it pretty much useless. Im not sure if something is locked on the board or I havent found soemthing but Im pretty sure its the CPU, the bios does say its unlocked and an ES version but it doesnt have any adjustments other then the usual FSB and what nots.
I have 1 question is this normal for the lower grade3 ES CPU's? I mean most ES versions have the stock multiplier and all the ones below unlocked correct?
Thinking maybe I should have went with the 3.8 E S here on this site. Although this cpu is quite fast, I was hoping to push it a little further with a 15x or 16x speed. Ive managed to clock up to 3.5 with a bus of 1001. But this thing realy gets warm, like 46-48 idle and 53-56 under load, and thats with a Big Typhoon and AS5. I think water cooling is in my near future for this space heater.
