ONLY BUMP EVERY 24 HOURS
Anyway this may be a good tweak for you .

Quote:

Get Windows to recognize your L2 cache on your CPU properly

( Warning: Please back-up your registry before performing this step )

By default windows sets the L2 cache of your AMD to zero...yes...0

Here's how to get it runnin.

Go to ''Start>run'' (Windows key + R) then type in "Regedit"
(regedit32 for advanced users as it provides a few more strings to play with)

Once your here go to ''HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\C ont ro l\\Session Manager\\Memory Management\\SecondLevelDataCache''

Now ''Right-click'' and choose modify...select decimal and enter the value of your L2 cache on your CPU...128,256,512...ETC!!!!

Now restart your machine ...and while you may not notice dramatic effects Overclockers...most processes and applications should be a little quicker.

This step is By ''PROBN4LYFE''

Yes this should work for a pentium as its Windows based and should work for all typed of CPU. Also check out my Windows FAQS as there may be a few more things you can do.

Have you also disabled Intels Speedstep technology in the BIOS ?

dude my comp has anew and exciting bug! lol when the cpu goes under heavy load the mouse stutters on screen and any audio i.e teamspeak or mediaplayer becomes all 'cyborg' like like uber stutter.

Any ideas?

and by the way.. that performance seems quite normal to me, as the X700 isn't that powerfull, and so is your cpu

I have a very equal system (Dell) with a 820D and X300. They run CS:S pretty nice. Try running AQ3 (AquaMark3) and post your results. I'll download AQ3 to my Dell rig later so we can compare.

So if I have a dual core AMD processor and apply this tweak, what should I enter. My L2-chache is 512Kbytes x 2. I'm guessing 1024, but I want to be sure. BTW that is a very useful tip, and once again shame on Microsoft!
