Well to start off, i go into nvidia clock frequency settings and do detect optimal etc. And then i just pump up the settings a tiiid bit higher than the detect optimals. I run a 6800 and its clocking at 380/832 ATM but i was hoping it could be pushed harder as i just bought new fans etc. While playing a game called world of warcraft, at what the settings are right now there are green patches placed randomly throughout the terrain, but the higher i turn up memory the more that appear. Is this just because im OCing too much or is something else wrong? i was really hoping to OC quite abit higher.

Its most likely because of a too high oc, with high temps...

Try lowering the oc and see if it still does this.. Its called artifacting

ya my temps are really quite low, barely ever going above 52 celsius. When i turn down the memory, the green is gone, but another thing, the higher i turn up the core, i get black flashing screen tears in game, i figured those were the artifacts. Theres nothing i can do but turn down the OC's?

Pretty much. Either you tune it down or get better cooling for your card. Alot of people like the Zalman VF700-Cu with some good ramsinks. Or you can also get the Arctic Cooling NV Silencer 5, which will take up another PCI slot due to its size but will exhaust the heated air from your system. Your choice.

Im almost positive cooling isnt the problem because my temps arent going above 52, and i just recently installed something very similar to that arctic fan u showed, except it has 2 fans blowing up from the bottom and 1 from the side all plugged into a PCI slot.

You've probably reached the max your card can do. Just back it off a little as everyone has said, and call it good.

ive scanne dwith ati tool, its gone for hours without any artifacts but in the game it still does it.

that means, there is some setting in ur game dosnt like the high memory clock, why dont u try to reset all settings? try that .

its possible your voltages are to high but not i dont think cooling is a problem and anyway whoever has a gpu needs this just for keep sake its cheap and very good just like a 80mm fan but 40% more effective right under ur gpu and expels the heat out of ur case

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835888602 also dont be decieved about temperatures because once you log out of a game they drop pretty fast... my suggestion also is to find a temperature reading program if theres any.... that can show you it while in game..

Some games are very sensetive to OCing. Try setting default clocks only when you are playing that game, and then crank 'em back up when you're finished. I have to do this with BF2, it hates being on OCed cards.

some games have lower quality rendering too, wich like nam said are sensitive to OCing... so for that game maybe u need to just back down the settings a few mhz and call that your max... and like u say temps dont seem to be the problem, i geuss u have just maxed your card out...:\\ BTW what brand is your card?
