Phenom II 840 temps

I'm getting 30c idle and 54c load. Is that bad?

I'm at stock clocks and stock heatsink with stock TIM.

Mostly likely the ill effects of the stock heatsink. With any 120mm heatsink you won't be breaking 40c. But while you have the stock one you shouldn't OC it much, as you don't want to break 60c very often.
But it's normal for a stock heatsink, right?

Any recommendations for a cheap (cheap) heatsink that'll give more manageable temps?

Cooler master hyper 212 plus, one of the best heat sinks for rediculously cheap.

max. temp for your CPU is 71'C, so if you keep it under 65'C, you're OK
with CM 212+ im overclocked high on my 840 and got good temps
