Phenom II X2 500 BE Unlocked First try.

I read briefly the steps on how to unlock it in my mobo. (ASUS, nForce chipset) It uses NCC not ACC, I simply set to "all cores" kept voltage at auto and wham booted up just fine! Stable thus far, about to SuperPi it. Here are screenshots.

Specs: ASUS M4N78 PRO, nForce 720a chipset
Bios: 0902
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE Stepping 2 revision RB-X2
Voltage:1.4v
Memory: Corsair XMS2 800MHz, 5-5-5-18

Can you set the vcore to 1.35v and see if it still runs stable? Did you get the CPU with the intentions of unlocking, or was it just a shot in the dark? I havent seen too many of the newer cores unlocking like the older ones were. Nicely done!

I knew it was possible but it wasn't something that made or broke my purchase. I just figured I may as well give it a shot, and voila! For some reason though I can't get any temperature readings on any programs for the CPU. Speedfan and CoreTemp are a no go, and I'm hesitant to Superpi it with the voltage that high and not temperature monitor.

Yeah i had the same cpu and had the M4N78 Pro as well.... had the same success.... congrats! Check out this thread: http://www.overclock.net/amd-cpus/52...-550-club.html
You could try locking the cores and just seeing what temps you get as a dual core with 1.45v vcore (I'm assuming unlocking the cores is confusing the temp program). Tht will at least give you s ballpark idea on temps. of course a quad core generates more heat, but at least you will have somewhat of an idea of how effective your cooling is.

Thanks man, I posted

Did you have this temp sensor issue?

You can try using Cpuid Hardware Monitor and look at TEMPIN1 or whatever. I think it's the one in the middle of the TEMPIN's.That what I did at least.

I'm not at my house right now, but I forgot to turn off my computer while it is still running Prime95, so I hope my house isn't on fire or something.
(It's been running for like 26 hours.. Lol.)

It said I ran at 48c max though.

Yeah, i think pretty much everyone does after unlocking... I think you can figure out which temps are the ones for the cpu (won't do per core). But one of the generically labelled Temps should be for the cpu. What i did was reboot real quick and check the temp in the bios and the let it come back up to windows and then compare and see which one was closest....

Hmm. That's weird. For me, I got 3 TEMPIN's.

I got TEMPIN0, TEMPIN1, and TEMPIN2.

For me, TEMPIN2 was 80c and it stayed there the whole time so I think it's just a mistake in the program.. But I think TEMPIN0 is the motherboard. TEMPIN1 is probably the CPU, but the temperatures are probably not accurate. The temperature is probably around it though.

Try running Prime95 or Orthos and see which temp jumps up as soon as you do.

Yeah, this is another reason I think it's TEMPIN1 because it was the only temperature that changed fast. From 28c to 43c in like a second or two.

Freaky potential problem.. I ran Superpi to 8M, and no temps changed at all. My CPU usage was also only at 25%

Try using Prime95. I think that will load 100%.

You might want to run the CPU at default (cores locked) and see what kind of temps you get to at least give you an idea of temps. Plus you can see the difference in temp between the CPU reading and the actual cores. For me, it is ~8-10 degrees sometimes.

Have you tried Everest to monitor temps?

Err locked up when running [email protected] 1.30 vCore.

Trying 1.35 now, still no temp jumps or readings when running it though, (in any of the sensors). No information on usage too, increases a bit, each core to about 75% when running Prime 95.
After a bit of stress testing the system locks up, by touch it does not feel as hot as many stable overclocks I have done before have been, however it is still sitting on a 1.35 vid. Could it be requiring a bump in voltage?
