Hi. Have this cpu in an Asus M3n78-EM motherboard in a Silverstone Sugo SG01 and for the past year I have noticed the machine sounds like an aircraft taking off ALL THE TIME! I never thought much of it but I just installed some temp readers and also looked in the bios and found the following:

Idle cpu temp in windows = around 65 degrees celcius.

I turned my machine off for about 20 minutes then entered bios. Cpu temp was 40 degress then after ten minutes it was up to 72 degrees. motherboard temp stayed between 30 and 40 degrees. At the beginning of the bios entry the sound was acceptable from the CPU fan, which was at about 2k rpm. at the end of the 10 minutes it reached about 6k rpm and was very loud. On booting to windows, I left the desktop running for about 10 minutes with no major applications and the cpu temp was still 63 degrees and it still sounds like an aircraft.

What do you think? Dodgy fan? Dodgy cpu? Not enough airflow? The Sugo came with 2 80mm fans which only extract air.

I also have 2x1GB ram and 2x2GB ram whose timings i have set to 400 to be in sync with the cpu-do you think that would make a difference to the cpu fan? Cool'n'quiet is enabled, by the way.

Reseat CPU cooler!!!

I have that cpu unlocked to quad and co to 3.7 Ghz with H50 and IC Diamond paste and mine idles at 28c. If anything get IC Diamond paste and reseat like suggested. That alone will drop temps or get a H50 cooler and drop another 20 degrees.
