Could someone explain to me how to physically connect the drives for a RAID 0 setup with 2 SATA drives and an Asus P5B Deluxe?

There's this one separate RAID hookup on the board, but I'm confused as to how to hook 2 drives to it with no Y cable.

Dont you hook it up to the group of SATA connectors? and not the single one by itself. I would think you have to.

Yeah... you need to use the cluster... that single one is the secondary controller (which has its second port on the backpanel of the motherboard).

On a side note, what is that single connector for? to connect external Hard Drives?

You have to connect the two drives to seperate SATA connections. I think you have to connect them to the two black ports.

It's a secondaru RAID controller, which has two connectors: one on board, and one on the back of the motherboard for an external HDD>

by back of the board, do you mean the I/O part with all the usb's, ethernet, etc? This connection is on the board itself. I would have to open the case to get to it.

I'm about to make a raid floppy, I want ICH8 and not Jmicron right? These are SATA drives, 7200.10 type.

When you open the case... you see a cluster of six SATA connectors (four red, two black) on the bottom right of the motherboard. Those are the ones yuo have to use.

As I said, that sole connector at the center left belongs to the secondary RAID controller. Don't worry about it
