Hello overclockers,
I currently have a 4770k and a CoolerMaster seidon 240m w/ Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound. I am planning on delidding and lapping soon and sometime in the near future upgrading to a custom cooling loop with the EK Supremacy copper cpu block. I am planning on using the coollabratory liquid ultra under the IHS but do not know what to do between the IHS and the cpu block. I was thinking of using the AS5 for now until I get the custom loop but after that I don't know if i should use the liquid ultra or a non liquid metal. I am unsure of this because people say that the liquid ultra will "weld" your IHS to the cpu block. I am trying to do a very aggressive overclock, 5+ GHz and be able to pass Intel burn test without throttling.
So i have several questions:
1. Would it be worth the slightly better temperatures of Liquid Ultra over a high end paste since it welds to the cpu block?
2. EK has the "naked ivy" kit to forgo the use of the IHS at all with their Supremacy blocks does that work with Haswell? And if so would that be a good idea to get, should I use liquid ultra or a high end thermal paste?
3. Quick tangent question, should i put liquid ultra on my graphics cards? I have to ASUS DCUII OC 760s
4. If I do use a high end paste rather than liquid ultra, what should i use? I have done lots of research and people say that the Phobya He Grease is the best while others say that Innovation Diamond 24 is the best.
5. Is cpu lapping for the 4770k something that will help temperatures much? I will already be voiding warranty by delidding so that is not an issue. Pretty much any improvement in temperatures would be helpful.
6. Final question, what is the safest maximum voltage for the 4770k? Completely disregarding temperatures.
I would like to thank all of you in advanced for the help
There are some things that internet research just can't get you.
