Anyone have experience using Plasti Dip?

I was at HD looking for U channel, of course they didn't have any.
Thought I'd get some spray paint to paint my cases, saw the Plasti Dip and thought..hmm I'll try that.

Anyone used it, any tips?

I've used it on the handles of pliers and hammers. Very rubbery and makes for a nice grip.
I've never thought about it for a computer based application, but I've used it on a flexible rubber piece with good results. It flexes very well without any signs of cracking or peeling off. If used on a case I would imagine you would have no problems at all.
the only problem I see is how to mold it to the perfect consisten shape for a u-channel. if you check mcmaster.com and look up the u-channels (use neoprene, non marking type) Its the same stuff that case modding sites sells

Not specifically as u channel molding, for the whole interior

Just wondering if it applied the same as spray paint.

LOL

It's in aerosol form, spray can

Should I prep the surface, other than a good cleaning?

He's probably thinking of the paint can form that is actually used to dip things such as tool handles. When I used it on a medium durometer rubber I just cleaned it very well and it stuck just fine. I'm sure a light sandpaper prep would not hurt though.

last thing you want to do is spray the entire case interior (or exterior) with plastidip. it will act as an insulator, trapping heat in the case, regardless of how well ventilated the case is

Have some touching up to do yet, took 2 full cans BTW.

@ Mr. Stroker

The main reason I went with the plasti dip is because of the sound dampening properties.
The aluminum Tsunami needs as much help as possible absorbing radiated noise.

Looks pretty sweet. How thick of a layer did you apply?
looks great actually, didnt realize it dried so thin. I was picturing a thick layer of rubber all in the case
I retract my prediction above. Let us know how the temps are

2 coats (2 full cans) leaves a layer about as thick as a balloon.
A blade of grass blew onto it while I was inside, it dried and when I peeled it off, some of the coating came off.

Oh yeah

This stuff goes on real nice, no running or any thing.
