Playing a terrorist on MW2?

2368 Views 59 Replies 29 Participants Last post by  BlackOmega
One of my best friends bought MW2 for the Xbox 360 a couple days ago, and I have yet to play it. It was on my list of things to get this season. However, he just informed me that before you start the game you are prompted with the question as to whether or not you are "easily offended." This has to be the most poor choice of words ever used based on the reason he says the game prompts you of this. He then described to me during the SP you have to play a terrorist on one portion and kill all the people in an airport....is this true?

Yes.

[edit] You can follow the rest of the Team through the airport without engaging the civilians, but once you get to the Police force and the Military you may need to open up.
I don't remember being asked if I was offended....

but yes, it is a disturbing yet fun level........
Its not like there Americans..

Its really Russia + 1 CIA agent on Russia .
Your an Army Ranger, that is put into the CIA, that goes undercover as a terrorist.

Uh, no. I wouldn't want to open up on police and military. My family is military. Even as much as I have been racially profiled and tackled by police I still wouldn't open up on police. And yes, I listen to rap music.

I didn't think in a million years with 9/11 and everything else, that someone would put that in a game. I was almost past GTA San Andreas with the gang stuff. Now I'm right back to square one. I guess that's a title I'll mark off the list.

Oh, now it has substance. I see. Still shaky.

I's not offensive at all for me, it's a video game. And it's probably the best mission in the game IMO. (don't forget to use the noob tube)

Edit: I'm going in the Army in less than 2 months and I have no quarrels over shooting Russian SWAT team members in a Game.

If you are going to pass up such a great game because of that then the terrorists have won. Plus that part of the game has nothing to do with 9/11. There are far worse depictions in terrorism in countless movies: Body of Lies, The Kingdom, The Siege, Deja Vu, etc.. would you boycott seeing those great movies because of a sensitive topic? If anything the idea of going deep cover to prevent terrorism should have some sort of bearing.
Who cares? its a freaking VIDEO GAME its not REAL. ****ver it.

its key to the story line. without it there would be no ending.

/rant.
MisterAutomatic, you may have very well opened up Pandoras Box.

This was a VERY hot topic here on OCN that devolved into a number of fights and related threads.... which in turn devolved.... it was really quite unruly.

Considering your previous post in regards to your Family you may wish to pass on this game.

Oh god not this again...I thought it was over.

Ninja Edit: Ughh, what Syrllian said
your able to skip the mission completely, thats what the option is before you start the single player.

It has only begun.

If you skip it it kinda messes with the story.

it DOESNT ASK YOU if you are easily offended, it asks you if you want to skip a mission that might offend some people

edit: there is a BIG difference in the "choice of words"

I see your point. Tell the guy that posted under you that I didn't hear what he said. Didn't know they were Russian either. Thought they were American, which doesn't really make a personal difference as I love all people, but he didn't tell me that. I guess I'm thinking more of the terrorists from COD4.

Funny thing is, he said once he did the mission on the game he had to step away from it for a couple hours. Given his reason I could see why.

The story is kind of messed up to begin with so what's the loss with skipping that one mission. The Shepherd curve ball they throw at you... seriously.

I was more offended with my own gas from eating too much fiber than I was playing this in your face awesome game. It's not my loss though, only thing I've lost in nearly 48 hours of my life playing multiplayer.

I highly suggest the game, overhyped but none the less great. If you are easily offended, and yes I mean easily, PG-13 offended, then it is not for you. But if you can realize the people you are shooting are pixels and polygons then you will find yourself ball deep in possibly the greatest game of the year.
That part didn't really bother me. I knew about it before I played the game and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. As has been said, they aren't real people. There were some points that gave me pause, like when you see one person trying to pull another injured person to safety... then they both get killed. That kinda sucked.

I wouldn't say it was the best mission in the game at all. Walking around shooting people who are just running or crawling away from you wasn't particularly challenging.

I don't see how this game would even be on your list if you are against killing police and military in a video game. Most war games involve you killing military quite extensively. And beyond that mission you kill a lot of military in this game. Not all of them Russian.

And to General Sheperd... In your eye, you bastard.

Have you never played a shooting game? Most of the time you are shooting other military powers. And isn't the airport mission in russia anyway?

This is the best mission in any game period. Why? Because everyone loves it and everyone hates it. There's not middle-ground here. Personally? I found it comical because I "lol at" video games trying to be serious. So I enjoyed running around knifing random Police/SWAT. Laughing maniacally (irl) while slaughtering a bunch of civilians was another highlight.
