A Sony representative confirmed on Thursday that controller rumble will make its way to the PS3 for the first time, this after several lawsuits surrounding the technology.

Kotaku's Brian Ashcraft is reporting that a Sony Computer Entertainment employee confirmed to him today that SixAxis with rumble is on the way. No other details were provided, although rumor broke earlier this week that a rumble-enabled controller would appear with the release of the new 80GB PlayStation 3 this August.

For more information see the Sony Web site.

slightly cheated ? the hdd upgrade is really easy ... any 2.5" drive should do the job (cant remember if its sata or ide, but should be easy to find out...) and rumble pad, well, you buy it when its out.

this is terrible news...I hate rumble, it's annoying and doesn't add to the gaming experience...All it's going to do is weigh down the controller....

Ok, Just tell Sony that you don't like the rumble feature, they'll understand and probably take it off.
Maybe they'll make it more realistic this time around...
I actually liked it, but wanted more realism.
This was actually one of the things causing me to not get one...

Meh, unfortunately true in most cases. I still cant get useed to the R2 + L2 on the Ps3 controllers though.

How can you make vibrations more realistic?
I never saw full utilization of the rumble.
With the hardwired control (not wireless due to battery life
)
I would like to see things like, starting a cars engine, having a light vibe from the smaller motor. Throttle up a bit, have it go a little more, in sync.
Then use the big more vicious one for the smashing into walls, and such.

It just never reacted the way it should for realism...
Obviously more a game thing than the rumble tho.

Lots of people may not like rumble, but I couldn't imagine playing several PS3 titles without it. For example - MGS4, God of War 3 (lol without rumble.....*laughs*), the spirtual succesor of Shadow of the Colossus.

This is great news for Sony!
Wont the rumble throw the six axis off a bit. Like when it shakes it will move it a bit
That was one of the original reasons I heard they didn't put it in- till I realized that was a cover for the lawsuit bull lol.
Sony built the CELL, I would hope they could get past the sixaxis thing

Good point tho!

Sony funded the Cell. IBM built it.
