OCN Water-Cooling Tubing Database

SpreadSheet

Hi guys! With any luck we can get an up-to-date tubing database up and running. I'll update as fast as you guys can give me data.

The main purpose of this is to find trends concerning tube clouding/plasticizer leaching.

When you post, PLEASE do your best to have all of the following (copy-able format below):

Brand:
Source:
Purchase Date:
Color:
Transparent? (y/n):
Liquid / Additives:
Kill Coil (y/n):
PH Balance:
Block Material(s):
Tubing Dimensions:
Period of Time:
Tubing Condition & Description:
Notes/Comments:
Feel free to add pictures!

***For "Liquids / Additives", list whatever is running through your loop, be it straight distilled, a mix of biocides + coolant, etc.). Describe any clouding/leeching (or lackthereof) under "Tubing Condition & Description", as well as tubing properties (flexibility, etc.).

Please try to have all of the above information handy, it makes everything a lot neater and more organized. If you don't know some of the info, and you can't figure it out, just leave it blank.

I'm asking for PH balance out of curiosity. If you wouldn't mind spending a few bucks on a PH tester, I think the results could be interesting.

The 2nd spreadsheet is a compilation of information from a few threads/sites, but mainly "Severe Plasticizer in Primochill LRT" thread. I won't be updating that. If your info is already in the older spreadsheet, please re-post (with as much information as possible) and I'll re-add your information to the new spreadsheet.

Thanks guys! Spread the word

I would add a Purchase Date next to the Source. That will help determine any trends

I'll also add my data

There we go:

Brand/model: Alphacool HF
Source: Aquatuning
Purchase date: 30/1/2012
Color: Semitransparent white
Coolant: Osmotic water (tap water to all effects)
Kill coil?: No kill coil.
Additives: No additives.
Block/s materials: Full copper, brass/nickel fittings, brass/copper radiator.
Size: 3/8" ID, 1/2" OD
Period: 20 days.
Description of tube: Prone to kink (very thin walls), extremely flexible (turns make nearly zero force), extremely light, incredibly cheap (€2.5/m). Looks pretty fine. No clouding at all (obviously)

Edit: Will update this in a couple of weeks (when the month of runtime has passed) so I can provide more accurate data about clouding/gunking and whatnot.

Good job with spreadsheet. Looks like primarily older primochill tubing remained clear or minimal clouding. And the newer ones were cloudy, except 1 or 2 that maybe got lucky and bought older tubing.

Brand: Primochill LRT
Source: Specialtech.co.uk
Purchase Date: 12/23/2010
Color: Clear
Transparent? (y/n): Y
Liquid / Additives: Deionised Water, 1 drop Copper Sulphate
Kill Coil (y/n): Y
PH Balance: 8-9
Block Material(s): Mixture of copper and nickel plated
Tubing Dimensions: 3/8"ID, 1/2"OD
Period of Time: 13 months
Description of Tubing: No sign of deposits or clouding. Although flexible it kinks with tight bends but is better than others I've tried.

I've also checked the bottles of deionised water I have stored. Each one has a silver kill coil in it and around 5 drops of copper sulphate per 5 litres. All test out with the same ph levels.

Notes/Comments:the way the coil the tubing at the store make the last 2-2 1/2 feet unusable due to huge kinks
I have also from time to time used the pvc reinforced tubing and do not recommend its use in a build to the amount of tension you can put in the tubing I have cracked lighter components trying to make bends with it

Sorry if I wasn't clear, when I say "Description of Tubing", I'd like to know if it's still clear, if it's cloudy, how much so, etc.

And for "Liquid / Additives", just list whatever is flowing through your loop (be it straight distilled, a coolant, etc.).

Updated the OP to reflect this. Thanks guys.
