I am building a HTPC gaming rig for a friend and currently have the choice between the following two cards:

MSI reference HD6950 with unlocked shaders of HD6970 but on stock voltage and speed for 155 euro's including shipping (used some time);
Sapphire HD7850 just for 2 weeks for 189 incl. shipping.

I read the HD7850 will easily clock to maximum speeds without any voltage changes.

Which one of the two would you buy? And which one is the better / faster one / is the best performcing card?

Please help me out I need to decide very very soon.

I think the HD 6950 (Flashed 2 HD6970) will beat the 7850 by a little bit.
So i would go with HD 6950.

Thanks for the advice (bedankt he).

I am well impressed with the HD7850 after reading the review on www.overclockersclub.com . But the HD6950 is 35 euros cheaper, a tad stronger then, but then again only has 1 fan and has been used for like 2 years more so older.

SOOO HAAARD.
