though i do electronics at uni, all my previous computers are bought as Barebone Bundles and added HDD + graphics card.

now i plan to build a computer, from scratch.

this computer is got to last until i graduate which is in 3 years time. and this computer is also got to be able to play all latest games on high settings in those 3 years (i only plan to upgrade graphics card and add 4gig RAM may be add HDD)

CPU: e6600 of course, seeing so many people got good OC results
CPU Cooling: Zalman CNP9500LED (already bought)
RAM: GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz this seems good
Corsair XMS6400 2x1GB 800MHz (probably not this one)
HDD: WD Caviar SE16 500Gb chose this because it says it's got <8.9ms. and i've got a WD 250GB, which is running very well.
Graphics: BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTS OC 320MB (will upgrade this one when 2nd generation Dx10 cards comes out, so getting a mid-range card)
DVD RW: Liteon DH-20A1P-45C 20x just the cheapest DVD RW on that website.
or this SATA Samsung
PSU: ThermalTake Toughpower Series Cable Management 700W (a good PSU to last 3 years, i hope)

and components that are missing:
Case: Antec Nine Hundred
Motherboard: im waiting for x38 chipset to come out, which i shall see which one is the best and buy that.

and also going to get a 22inch widescreen monitor. may be this LG monitor

inside the case, what else is missing? (including tiny bits, like SATA cables, jumpers?)
what component(s) is going to be the bottleneck in this system?

price, including monitor, i plan to spend 1000GBP, though it's 2000USD, US components are generally cheaper, so around 1800USD budget for this rig.

all advice are welcome.

RAM Timings will no doubt be 5-5-5-12, TwinX is when you buy a two pair dimm set, such as the ones you've pointed out it's still XMS2. Tbh, you could prolly get some better more oc'able memory for around the same price.

www.overclockers.co.uk have a decent RAM range, www.scan.co.uk ain't so bad either, mainly Corsair stuff over there though RAM-wise.
how's the customer service for overclockers.co.uk?? how many days for delivery?

i chose novatech because its between Bristol and where i live. so it's possible for me to get the components in 1 go and free. also easy to return.

how about that little things am i missing? i see the CPU cooler already have thermal paste. what about the cables?

and recommendation on a relatively cheap (but good airflow, and strong) case?
a nice built: Regarding the case get: Antec Solo Quiet Mini Tower Case or ThermalTake Mambo.

& 'bout the RAM, get G.Skill or OCZ. They provide the best OC exp.

Cheers
You'll get varying opinions on OCUK from people here, I've never had a problem but I've never had to return anything.

Delivery is great, next day unless it's a weekend.

The Antec 900 is a great case with great airflow, it's a little pricey for us brits (£35 in usa) like you said, that's the case (ha) with all components here.
i've been recommended this GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 RAM for RAM on the intel motherboard forum.

seems good, i'll get this if i can spare 20GBP from other components to get the Antec 900 case with the RAM from overclocker.co.uk

if i can't spare any money, i'd get the ThermalTake Mambo, looks pretty good.

any other advices? is the PSU good enough?
updated first post with new case, DVD RW and a new set of RAM. all from OCuk

i heard there is a price cut for quad-cores, when will it be? and what is the rough price for a q6600 in UK?
