Hey people, I just bought an Asus P5Q3 mobo and 6GB DDR3 ram @ 1333 FSB, I have a E8400 CPU and want it to go @ 3.50 min. I've got a Zalman 9700LED CPU cooler with it.
MY new specs are as follows:
E8400 CPU Core 2 Duo @ 3.0 GH
6GB ram DDR3 @ 1333 Kingston
9800GT 512mb Asus gfx card
3x Antec LED 120mm fans at 2000rpm
1x Antec LED 80mm fan @ 3000rpm
1x Thermaltake Ram cooler @ 1200rpm
Thermaltake Soprano RS100 fulltower case

This mobo is very different from my P5N-D which i got to OC my same CPU to 3.50GH, now this mobo asks for a lot more info in BIOS, it kinda gets me lost lol. I know, I'm a noob. please help me!

Just go into the BIOS with default settings DRAM to AUTO and just increase your FSB by 5Mhz until it wont post or boot anymore. Then go back into the BIOS and raise the vidd voltage a notch to see what happens. The E8400 should do 3.5 on stock voltage. I did a test with my E8500 and DFI MB and was able to boot with default settings with vid set at 1.2375v up to a 430 FSB with a 1:1 FSB Ratio (333/667) this was just boot testing and running XS bench on real temp. You should not have any problems going to 3.5 GHz easy. Use Orthos to test your clocks, run it for 30 min then change the setting, write them down and clock more until it fails before the 30 min then adjust. good luck
