Please Help with 2000mhz ram and 790i digital

Hi i just got my 790i board with 8 gb of 2000mhz patriot viper ram. come to find out the MB only supports 2000mhz in the two black slots which leaves me with 4gb of ram at 2000mhz. I think at this speed cpu overclocking is minimal.

well i am faced with two options return the other set and get a refund or put all 8gb and not get the 2000mhz which option is best to do? which is better 8gb at lower speeds or 4 at 2000mhz??? help me out!

given your setup i would say 2000mhz is pointless. i would grab some 1600 and be done with it
right good point but im stuck with one set as the other doesnt have a refund policy. so what do you think my best option is now?

personally i think 4gb is enough unless you do a lot of hardcore ish. if it were me i would keep 4gb.
