Hi All,
So I've made my first stab at a budget low to mid range FX-6300 build for gaming and web development. Unfortunately I really don't know enough to distinguish between good brands, various models, etc, so I've built this off of various posts I've read and basic guesswork. Please critique the overall combination of components and feel free to suggest alternates for any of them.
All of the components are from NewEgg as I've had good experiences with them in the past. The prices reflect the various discounts and I think shipping is free for all items. Unfortunately the total is coming in at $762, which is well over my $600 target. Where can I trim some fat off this build? I don't want to sacrifice too much performance though, but I might be able to stretch the budget to $650 if I have to.
As for games the only one I play right now is Battlefield 3 on xBOX, but I'd like to play the PC version on high settings and get into Planetside 2. I'd also like a setup that will be able to handle games decently for the next few years. On the webdev side I won't be doing much, if any, video or audio editing or anything like that. I'd also like to overclock as well.
Basically I want a pretty decent, reliable and somewhat future-proof system at as low a cost as possible (as close to $600 or under as possible).
Here's a list of parts I have available to cannibalize to help save costs:
Case: Antec 902 -

PSU: Antec SP-450 -

ODD: HP DVD1140 w/Litescribe -

External HDD: WD Mybook Essential 1TB -

OS: Win7 32bit Home
Monitors: Dell 20" and Viewsonic 17"
I figure I can use the case, ODD, External HDD, OS and Monitors. I doubt the 450w PSU would suffice for the new system.
