So after spending the weekend going through Sean's Guides and prepping my Hard Drive... I've reduced the my HDD from 750GB of Used Space, down to only 168GB!
So I am ready to make that big step into SSD territory for the first time!
I am looking at Samsung and Plextor.
I know Crucial seems to be relatively everyone's favorite and some are going to try suggesting I get Crucial, but I am liking the Plextor and Samsung models a little better as they appear to have faster speeds on them!
I am looking at the 256GB vanilla models, as the "Pro" models are still a bit out of my budget range.
Plextor M5s PX-256M5S 256GB
Samsung 840 Series MZ-7TD250BW 250GB
These are the two models I am looking at.
I also know a lot of people here seem to sing the praises of Samsung, but I do not see much praise for the Plextor models and the only reason I'm even looking at them is because I know they're a quality brand known for reliable products... plus the M5s has a 5 year warranty, while the 840 only has a 3 year warranty... so I am kinda leaning more towards the Plextor...
I know Samsung makes theirs all in-house, no 3rd party parts or controllers, etc... while the Plextor uses Marvell for its controller, is there any significant disadvantage to this?
Also the Plextor is 256gb model while the Samsung is only a 250gb, which I know is negligible difference...
Are there any other reasons to chose one over the other though?
