please help guys im trying to OC my q9400 in my g41mt-es2l..
and i am stumped any help would be great seems like the settings are somewhat limited in the bios, but im new to the scene so i really have no idea

I am not too familiar with that board, but I did own that proc at one time. What kind of OC are you trying to achieve? Does that board have voltage control?

I just searched it up and do not overclock with that board, it is a 2 power design VRM.

You will break it.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

what does 2 power design VRM mean? remember im a newb at this

I looked at the board as well. Overclocking on that board is a bad idea due to the vrm design on it. That Q9400 you have is likely capable of 3.6ghz or better on the right board, but it's not going to happen on the one you currently own. If you can find a good deal on a P45 board such as the one in my sig, you could hit that kind of OC and better.

You would have to shop around a bit, but for a good p45 board, I would say around 100-150 US. Thing is they are getting harder and harder to find so the price is going up on them. The board I have is regarded as one of the best 775 boards, which I gave around 130 retail. On ebay, used boards go for more than what I paid when it was new.

my mate has 2 q6600 2.4Ghz cpus, he wanted to find a dual cpu board, from what i have been able to goole you just cant get in 775..

is my board a bad overclocker ?
or is it just the combo?

if i got one of these chips off him could i OC on this board?

It's the motherboard that is the issue. The cpu you have is fine. It just needs a better board to see it's full potential.

As for dual cpu 775 boards, no they do not exist.
