Hey guys, been sitting on a stable 810mhz @ 1.088v (stock voltage) for a year or 2 now since ive not needed anymore, however recently ive been looking for some more juice.

So ive upped my voltage to 1.125v but i cant get any more than 830mhz core and at 1.138v only get another 10mhz (840). This is all with stock clocks memory.

Is this normal, am i expecting too much from my chip? Can most 480s hit 900?

(temps stay under 90c on full load)

Could this be a mobo problem, currently my mobo is dodgey and only 2 of the RAM slots work so its running in single channel.

Also that stupid clock throttling is happening again ^^ is there a way to fix using nvidia inspector?

Thanks

IIRC 850 is what most stock cooled cards can hit. 900s are usually the territory of AXPs and WC'd cards. 1.088 is pretty high for stock voltage so I think your card is running as expected.

It is not a poor OC, it is most likely heat holding you back if it is stock cooled, that voltage is high for a stock cooler.

Also, i know no GTX 480 that can maintain 900 core under the stock cooler, unless you really like 100% fan noise 24/7

My 480 in Old hag rig has ran a stable 920mhz pushing 1.2v under a custom heatsink i put together.

VRM+GPU heatsinks.

Cooling is the first thing that you should be tackling, then go on to try and OC your card more.

BTW, i could only really manage 800mhz on the stock cooler due to thermals/noise.

At 800mhz, heat would hit around 85c max, with noise being moderate.
