Hi, can anyone tell me if it's possible to overclock a Core2Duo 6300 running on a Intel Q965 motherboard??
Thanks!

Chances are if it's an Intel brand motherboard it will not overclock.
Is it coming from a prebuilt computer?
What motherboard are you thinking about? You mean like a Gigabyte DS3 or DQ6 or Asus P5B motherboard with the 965 chipset? You'll be able to overclock like a beast with that e6300 if that's the case.
if ite prebuilt no but like choggs said you may be lucky

Yeah, if it's pre-built then you could take your chances but most likely you won't see a huge overclock unless it's a really quality system. Do-it-yourself FTW.

I build it myself - but it's a "INTEL "GUARDFISH" Q965 INTEL PENTIUM 4/D/Core2 LGA775 FSB1066 M/B".
So what you guys are saying is that I can't overclock on the motherboard, but I can overclock using software? What software can I use??

he could test with software then do a bsel mod to force the chip to run that strap.
How do I "bsel mod" to run what strap? hehe lol
And what software can I use to do all these things?
clock gen you would have to google around for the right bsel mod you probly would have to do a 1333mhz one.
