I am building a system based on a Z270 motherboard for a friend and I want some help.

He will use a 256 nvme ssd for the os and programs,
a 1tb sata ssd for his games,
and we plan to use his current hdd for storage(torrents, music, movies, photos).

His current hdd is WD AAKS 500gb 3Gb/s 7200rpm drive with 16mb cache.

Is there any possibility that this drive can slow down or have a negative impact(ex. add latency) in the whole system,
even if it will be used only for storage ?

Thank you.

Only if there's something wrong with it.

I have seen it happen but as TwoCables said, only when something was wrong with it. Weird lockups, slow downs, long boot times, etc. Unplug it, all the issues go away.
