Power bills for Folding

Hey guys,

I was wondering how much folding causes bills to go up by...if I were to fold 4 hours a day, 7x a week, should I expect my bills to be ridiculous considering my PC is already on 12+hrs a day...

I run mine 24/7(look at my sig for the equipment im running) and my dad only complains that it goes up by $20-ish a month.
if you already have your pc on 1/2 the day everyday I would think that it would be almost unnoticeable...
I run 6 GPU clients 24/7 and my bill is an extra $70-$90 a month.
were really trying to save money now lol

i used to do 24/7 on my 8800gt, the card got fried, bill when up by $50.

$.1/kw

i even thinking about using some crappy monitor instead of my 24"
Is a few bucks a month really that much of a concern when you are saving lives?

Anyways, I know you were prob just curious, it shouldn't go up too much. Maybe... 20-40 bucks a month.
If you were adventurous you could attempt to do the math. Find out what the electric company charges /kwh. Then figure out the draw from your PC (for ex. 500w) and then do your 12hrs 4days/week thing
My sigrig, uses $40\\mo of power running 24\\7 @ 20% load, and my power is slightly above national average.

Folding probably won't be very expensive unless you electricity is horribly expensive.
If you use the PC to heat a room it can actually help pay for the folding.

24/7 must had been another 80ish euros for me.
In other news, my room gets warm in 10 minutes now and I warm up burgers on my VGAs.

I wonder if I can put a small platter (and a screen) behind the exhaust fan on my case.

Good way not to have to heat the stove or oven.

Well my sig rig uses roughly 0.95 KW at full load and runs [email protected] 24/7 it costs about 6 cents a KW/H.

*maths*

0.95KW*$0.06
=$0.057 cost an hour for my rig
one month = 730 hours

730*$0.057=
$41.61 a month
$499.32 a year

Not that bad, I consider it a donation to charity.

I turn on stress tests or folding when my room is really cold in the morning. I have no heater in the house.
grab a kill-a-what meter. it will tell you how many KWH it uses and you can accurately figure out how much it costed. Mine cost close to 45$ a month to run the i7 and 275 24/7
My power bill is $350-370 in the winter and $475-575 summer. Folding costs me roughly $150 per montyh but in the summer its more cost due to waste heat that you have cool off.

Yeah I know what you mean, folding in the summer is like running on a treadmill while eating a burger.

You heat the house up then crank the AC to cool it back down....

But its worth it lol.
