I bought a new motherboard a few days ago and the cord to my orginal power button in the front of the cpu is the problem. I know which pin on my new motherboard is for the power, but i do not know the pins to the power button. I own a pcv-rx753 sony vaio desktop. I just need to know which pin is what because of its color. Sorry for my lack of terms due to my limited knowledge on computers.

so you are trying to find which wire thingy (we all lack some technical knowledge) is coming from your power button?
or do you know the above and are trying to figure out where to plug it in?

and welcome. feel free (or OBLIGATED!!!!!!!11!) to fill out your system specs in you User CP (control panel). Hope you enjoy your stay!
and you can set your profile to automatic subscriptions so you are automatically subscribed to any thread you post in (or make). i use it, but not everyone does. the subscribed threads then show up in your User CP when new posts are made.

Yeah, that's exactly what i am trying to figure out. As well as what the other wires mean. In order for this case to be compatible with my new mobo then I need to know what each of the wires connecting to that cable (the cable coming from the power button on the case) means. For example, vertically the wires read 1.)orange 3.) black (I assumed this was the correct order. I could be numbering from the wrong side and it could be 11.) orange 9.) black; I hope you follow) 5.) Yellow and so on. As far as the sw1 ; 1.) HDD LED + 3.) HDD LED - 5.) Reset SW + and so on.
Hopefully you understand what I am trying to say and this helps you to further assist me with my delimma.........thank you.

Power buttons only have 2 wires and it doesn'y matter which ones go where as long as you plug them in the right spot on the mobo!

what motherboard did you buy? it should have come with a manual which has a picture of what wires go where. if it isn't labeled as power switch, it will be something obvious.

CenturyofY2J, if you tell us the exact make and model of your motherboard, we can tell you exactly what pin means what. I can probably get you pictures as well.

This is an example of what we'll need from you:

Make: ASUS
Model: A8N32-SLI Deluxe

The model name is "usually" etched onto the motherboard with large white (or sometimes black) text.
