Is it true that if you run anything larger than an 80mm fan off the motherboard that it will burn it out?

it's false, I run a Big Typhoon and it's a 120mm fan...I guess it would depend on the speed and power draw of the fan. if it were one of these, I could understand blowing out the mobo, but not teh fan.

Where in the heck did you hear that? I run my Big Typhoon and 3 120mm case fans off of my mobo with no problems.

the only rumors I have heard is that using the mobo to run extra fans would cause instability to an overclock due to the extra power draw...I highly doubt this is true, but could be possible with a weaker powersupply with weak rails..
I would not believe the hype..

It'll depend on the power and current draw of the fan. Most case fans and such won't hurt it, but if you're trying to pull an amp or more through the motherboard, I wouldn't be too surprised if it fried eventually.
