power pin for the cpu doesn't match the one on the power supply?

I'm really confused here. So basically there's suppose be a power chord from the power supply plugged into a place near the CPU. However, the one near the cpu has 4 "holes" while none of the power supply chords have 4 "holes". There's one that has 8.

Sorry for my terminology.

I'm assuming this is for the Corsair in your sig.

There is an 8Pin CPU power cord on the PSU and you can use that on the 4Pin CPU connector. It can only go in one way. No way to mess that up or damage anything.

I'm not sure if that one splits up, but on a few PSUs the 8Pin CPU splits in half.

Yes, the 8 pin will work for the 4pin cpu plug. just plug 1/2 the 8 pin into the 4 pin hole (it will only go 1 way, just don't force it).
