ok question since u jumpered it / short the fourth and fifth connector, is the power supply should work full power? oor just half power? cuz i just noticed my fans on the x-connect running slow compare to when its plugged in to the mobo.

I'm not sure... I use a PSU Testing Unit when I'm not sure if a PSU is dead or not. If it gives me a green light it's good. I think your assumption is correct though.

EDIT:
Be careful with that X-Connect though... I've read they can blow out your entire system (ie: fire).

Yeah i heard of that too but i had this for a year now with no problem and so does my other x-connect psu. i tweaked the inside of my psu to check if any of the wires touching any open or metallic conductors.

It does not DC power will only produce what is needed. So if it needs 1amp it will try to only produce 1 amp.
But to answer your question yes it will run the same as without the motherboard.
