And the best is for sure the P5B Deluxe but also the CPU plays a big part as well as the RAM and PSU, not just MoBo alone.
There is nothing wrong with INTEL hardware and overclocks like mad if you pick the right hardware from the start.

Which platform are you looking at? mPGA478 or LGA775?

Not all... there are a few that overclock (notably the BadAxe - and that one overclocks quite well actually)

Asus P5B Deluxe would be the best for Core 2 Duo (and other socket T (LGA775) CPUs).

Ah OK

Well if it is S478 your choice would be the Asus P4P800 series or Abit's IC7 (865PE/i875 Chipset) range.

For LGA775 The 975 Chipset boards from ASUS are best such as the one Chozart suggested

The Asus P5B Deluxe is based on the P965 Express chipset, which generally overclocks a little bit better.

Locked as in you can't overclock an Intel brand motherboard (which is not entirely true, since the BadAxe overclocks decently).

There are plenty Intel based boards from different brands though, like the ASUS I linked before.

No need for that...yet.

Yeah, get a P5B Delux for something diddy-style, or the S3 for common man living.
