Yep, That's right. Gateway is releasing two Conroe rigs that are pre-OCed. The OC the consumer will be getting is still unknown.

http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/10/30/ga...erclocked_pcs/

Gateway will ship three different models, all with Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 installed. The "low-end" FX530XG model will have the 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 processor along with 2GB of PC5300 RAM and two 150 GB 10K RPM drives. A 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme with four GB of RAM and two 750GB drives will power the high-end FX530XL.

Looks like it has 2x x1950xtx in that way-too-small case. They couldn't even fit the full sixe x1950 cooler in the top slot because of the cpu cooler. And that is one funky board layout, so forget upgrading the case.

with the amount of stuff in that case, it will be a laugh to see how they pull off the overclock without overheating, it does however have the processor blowing straight out the back so maybe...

anywho nice find

edit: wait that case is weird, disregard my comment

Anyone notice the X1900XT and the X1950CF in there? Why different cards? Cheap bastards, atleast use another X1950 for the CF.

That case is going to get blazing hot, there is no way any reasonable air flow can take place.

I highly doubt Gateway will OC these and leave them. That requires time, and human intervention. I bet they will use some software similar to Asus' N.O.S. to automaticaly overclock a small percentage.

I bet these bad boys start near 3k and up

Hmmm, so its getting fresh ducted air from the front, then the typical 120mm in the back.

As for the different cards, it looks like that they just put the old ati cooler in the top slot so it can clear the cpu cooler. And they probably wiill have deafault OC settings in the BIOS.

It's $2500 for the e6700, and $5000 for the x6800.

Another thing I noticed: It has onboard sound and an X-Fi or something.

I think this is just a marketing gimick to get more money out of people. I doubt it will have a substantial overclock.

The case design is BTX, which is a much better form factor then ATX, as it alows airflow to go right through the case in a line, with out having to bend around all kinds of other things. That will alow them to have great airflow in a small case and be able to overclock it nicely.

I think it's a great way to make a lot of money off of people who don't understand computers.

Pre-Overclocked? I bet there won't be any options in the BIOS to control it and I would put money on them having a thermal throttling system in place. While I don't think they'll be hitting anything even remotely near a record OC it's probably better than nothing? Well only time will tell.

that kinda takes the fun out of it... most people i know who care about overclocking, would rather do it themselves... and those who dont, still think overclocking will kill their computer in a month, and thus, wouldnt buy one pre oc'd. especially for more money :S

This is my computer there are many like it but this one is mine. My computer is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My computer, without me, is useless. Without my computer, I am useless. I must clock my computer true. I must build better than my enemy, who is trying to sell me pre-OC'd computers. I must upgrade before he upgrades me. I will.

BTX or not, that's a small case......and with those 2 cards in there, and the "overclcoked" CPU? Got to be warm.........

And pretty low end RAM, they definatly won't be overclocking much.......just the parts in that system can't cost more than $2000 retail........at least when Alienware ripped you off you got a sexy looking case

Better get 2x x1950XTXs and a x6800 conroe pretty soon if you want to compete. Or maybe dual Athlon FX-70 and 2x 8800GTXs and a 1.5KW PSU.

Pretty nice especially because it comes with a warranty.

OMG! no!!!! we can't have an actual WARRANTY! That's pretty cool though. but even cooler would be letting the user OC them.
