Does anyone know what series p4 (5 or 6) is good for 5 ghz. My friend wants to get one cheap and try to clock it up. He has a 3.2ghz 500 series and it maxes at like 4.2 at 24c idle and 32 load
(lapped and TT blue orb)

Its the Celeron D prescott Cedar Mill core which will get you 5Ghz...Im not sure about that one.
Also, why would it be limited at 4.2 ghz at any vcore? We went up to 1.7v :/
Sometimes the Core simply has a limit to how far its going to go before becoming unstable...All cpu;s have there max.

Because Prescott 5 series were never "that" good for OCing.

Want to hit 5.0ghz on air? Either one of these two could do: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116003
