I'm having a rather uncommmonly successful first overclock in progress here. With the PCI/(e) busses locked, as well as ram and the HTT running below their stock clocks, 200 and 1gz respecitevly, I have a 2.70 ghz athlon 4000+ socket 939 90nm SanDiego core running over 300 mhz overstock cpu mhz and 2-2-2-5-1 RAM timings, on an ASUS A8V-e se deluxe mobo. I've discovered that the options for changing the bios here are weird but I fiqured them out. What I know need to know is the starting voltage a amd 4000+ would get at starup, so I can manually input that into the bois, and works towards 3.0ghz slight voltage increases from there.

Sex! But enough about my life, Supposuivly the amd 4000 is a variable voltage from their tech spec sheet. Wikipedia,.org lists it as 1.35/1.40 V. does that means it fluctuates 5 percent after its clock from the bios. If thats the case and 1.35 would be the starting voltage, Im getting 1.45 based on some stupid bios option I cant control (but probably helped get to 2700 no problem), that adds 0.1 volts to its starting voltage.

Ahh screw it whatever, is the amd 4000+ 1.35 or 1.400 based on productions concerns (differances in silicon what have you) or does that mean that if your bios wasnt ****ing with you (like mine is) that you are starting at 1.35 and flucating to 1.4 (a 0.5v increase?

Ermmm, I love you too... I guess... ok, akward. There are more than one model of the 4000+, i believe one of the has a stock voltage of 1.35, the other of 1.4 (i think this may be one of the differences between the E4 and E6... not sure). You shouldnt see a fluctuation of the vcore for the most part, though when you put a computer under load it will fluctuate a little. As for the overclock, my first 4000+ topped out at 2800 @ 1.65

The two models of 4000 altogether were one based on 130 fab and the latest is the SanDiego (im using this) on 90nm fab. Im betting on that 90nm to get me to 2.8 (then ill be equilalvnt to FX-57 maybe (someone shoot me down if not))

There are different versions of the socket 939 4000+:

There is the AS, which is a GS Stepping, running at 1.5V and based on 130mm
Then the BN, which is the E4, running at either 1.35 or 1.40V, 90mm
and the CF, which is the E6, running at 1.35V, 90mm

Now, why the E4 stepping has two voltages, I don't know. Maybe some batches were initially at 1.40V, and later AMD switched to 1.35V.

I quess I could reset my voltages to auto/default and then check in cpuz, however this cpu seems to fluctuate around within +0.05. 1.423 1.408 1.1448, those are what I get when I (effectily) have my voltage set to 1.450.

If the above posters with the 4000 have it set to 1.35 (or 1.45) could you please turn on cpuz and see how much the voltage fluctuates from that?

(ok - its at 248*11 24/7, that clock lasted for all of 10 secs because of my *** ram)

Exactly right:BN-E4 and CF-E6, Same as for the 90nm 3700SD....

Umm, okay...I'm, on E4

So can you people post what say SpeedFan gives you for VCore if yourset to the cpus default voltage and you know you don't have a bios tweaking it (asus)?

Also is it better to get the multiplier down from 12? I've been running it for a while and maybe I can get a good IC with a lower cpu multipier, however (check the first post in the forum for what I got) would that be smarter for me? I've overlocked the base clock and increased teh vcore voltage up .0625 from within the bios. I'm at...

234bs 2810cpu 936htt 187ddr

I'm pretty sure I have a 1.35 4000 that was getting 1.45 to it based on an asus imposed compulsory .1 volt boost. (probably to cover their asses with that stupid ai overclock nos ****) I'm having a real hard time seeing what my REAL vcore is inside the OS though. it seems flucates 0.05 in either direction of what I think I'm at, but this makes that hard to see if thats the case.

More than likely your @ 1.45volts with it @ 2.8ghz

Oh I know, my bios allows me to tweak it in really small increments and I cant really tell that in cpuz i just have to take it on faith.
