I'm building an i5 gaming rig and want the new 5770, why are the prices different for pretty much the same exact thing? I know different heatsinks and companys, but its pretty much the same thing... are there small variations to warrant the extra $5-$20 ?
What is the difference between JUNIPER XT and regular 5770's ?
XFX particularly has a small price premium due to their life time warranty and reputation as a good videocard reseller when they were Nvidia exclusive. I see powercolor cards being on the cheaper side, their okay to deal with but they have a 3 year warranty. Same with ASUS. Sapphire has a 2 year warranty but have known to be ATI's most reliable reseller over the years and is my recommend choice.
I'm pretty sure JUNIPER XT is the code name for the 5770 and like wise for the JUNIPER LE and 5750. If your confused about this, the 5770 is 20%-30% faster than the 5750.
I think your talking about this model: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150447
This model is no different from other reference 5770's. They just put Juniper XT in the name for marketing/confusing people purposes.
Thanks for replies, I suppose I'll get one outf the more expensive "boxy" looking ones instead of the cheaper naked ones... for heat issues atleast.
Well the advantage of having a dual slot blower or "boxy" looking card is that it blows the hot air out of your case. With the cheaper "naked", im guessing your talking about this card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...20Video%20Card
It has a bigger fan and heat sink centered on the GPU for better cooling performance, only downfall is that the hot air still stays in your case but can be solved if you got fan on side vent sucking the hot air out.
