Well that's the Black Edition, what do you expect? Noting that, I wonder why they didn't give it a backplate or a flat-black port shield...
Yeah.
XFX charges you $60 more bucks for a 40 mhz core bump.

I wonder if they are binned any better...

Still, it's a rip off. That's 100 dollars more than what I paid for mine.
Binned better? lolz.
Theres a shortage of chips, binning is kind of hard to do when you cant even put out "normal" cards.
These are the same as every other "ZOMG***BBQLOLOVERCLOCKS" edition out there.
Why buy an overclocked 5850 when you can get a 5870? Availability is still poor for both products so I do not see the point.
Better question, why buy either right now, unless you like burning money. There arent any games out that even need these cards unless your talking 2560 resolution, even then most cards that cost 1/3 of that will run great at the resolution.

Cause people love to expand their e peen and maybe the only game they like to play is Crysis. I dunno. I can't justify spending $300 on a video card.

So your saying a $100-$120 video card will handle 2560x1600 "great"? I completely disagree, my 4870X2 sure doesn't in some games... and it cost(ed) alot more than that card. 2560x1600 is huge.

I couldn't justify spending as little as $300 on a video card. I can't remember the last time I spent under $600 for a video card. To each his own I guess...

You got people that go out every weekend and spend $100 just to have a fun night. Now that, IMO, is a total waste of money. At least I get hours upon hours of fun off of my $600.

+1
Unless you're playing on multiple 30" LCD monitors theres no reason to have so much money into video cards.

You are probably right, but there is still a wide variation in what the GPUs are capable of, and some do have more headroom than others. It's not inconceivable that XFX is sorting them, even with a shortage.

My 5850 OCed to roughly 5870 performance was barely sufficient for playing Crysis how I liked at 1680x1050.

This GTX275 is too slow to even bother with DX10.

Everyone's got their preferences.

This is your opinion, not a fact.

Personally, I'm about to buy a new GPU (I have a temporary 8600 in system that needs to go), and the $300 5850 is just what I need. I want DX11, crossfire in the future, and the ability to max out the new STALKER game coming down the pipe (I'm a HUGE fan of STALKER, and it eats GPU like no other). I'm sorry, but a 5770 won't cut it for these needs.

People have different needs, and everyone should understand that.

Did I state that it was fact? No, I didn't, so perhaps you should get off my ass.

You're buying a $300 video card now when there is no competition and prices are high. I never said you cant have more video cards, its paying $5-600 for them which is stupid in my opinion. Unless your card is dying theres really no need to spend that much right now, waiting for fermi to come out and the price wars to go into full swing is the best bet. I have $600 of video cards in my rig right now, and I happened to pay 40% of the retail price for.

1) Card length
2) Almost as fast at $110 cheaper (I paid $260 a piece for my two cards)
3) Overclocks very well

I would not buy a non-reference card if it was much more cost!

Overclock it yourself to that speed! 765/1125 minor overclock for these cards.

BTW- They blow through Stalker without breaking a sweat!
