Working on a friends Dell w/ a GeForce 5500FX.

Computer boots normal until the Windows XP login screen. The screen goes blank and ends with BCOD says the video drivers are in endless loop.

Boot in Safe mode and delete the drivers. Restart and computer starts in VGA mode fine. Download drivers from Dell. Same problem, reboot in Safe and delete. Download new drivers direct from Nvidia. Same problem, reboot in Safe and delete again.

This card will not run with Nvidia drivers. Is there something wrong with the card and should he look to replace?

Thanks.

Which drivers have you tried? Try the nVidia 84.xx drivers or older.

Tried all the way back to 77.xx drivers. No good. He may have to step up to a new card.
