So i'm fixing my neighbors computer cause it's acting slow. I look at the specs and it's an Athlon 64 x2 4800+ (2.5GHz) with 2gb RAM and integrated graphics...it shouldn't be as slow as it is...I open CPUZ and it's running at 1GHz...even when it's scanning for viruses and goes up to 100% usage, it stays at 1GHz...200 FSB with x5 multipler...I know it's supposed to be at x12.5. It looks to be a custom built computer, could they have messed with the BIOS? Thanks

Can you go into CMOS and take a look at the BIOS settings?

Are you sure you're not looking at the HT?

I've never heard of this one before. But why not go into the BIOS and set it back up?

I was going to take a look at it once the scan finishes. I don't want to start it over. I just thought it was strange and kinda funny lol. Save power I guess?

Run prime95 and check it, you'll see it jump I should think.

Run prime95 for the last time, then watch it jump. Doing a scan like that won't max out your CPU like prime will.

Yes, but AMD cpu's jump to full power even with 5% - 10% usage..
