Well its been a few years since Ive built a rig (when the 8800 series came out) and I just got my tax refund in the mail today so its time to start purchasing parts. Now alot has changed and I have been doing alot of researching but I just want to make sure everything will work well with each other. First thing is I read that the ram needs to be 1.5v ram or it will fry the cpu or ram. Here is a list I've made so far tell me what you think.

The motherboard is the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme but no one has them in stock for some reason which really bothers the ADD side of me because I want to order it asap. Also I know the power supply is alittle overboard but I plan on going SLI and watercooling in the near future.

Actually, the RAM can be 1.6v (well technically, 1.50v +- 5% which means 1.575v is safe). You should also get a 1000GB hard drive for only a few dollars more. You can also get away with an 850W PSU with 2 GTX570s.

Edit: Dammit

Don't grab that 570. Get a 580. The 570 has some pretty eeky VRMs that would just cause problems on a solid overclock. Unless you're not planning on overclocking, it'll be fine I guess.

Anyways, great system. Nice solid picks!

Ya, I'd second this. It is a bit overboard. The HX650 can run into 920W draw with very little, to any, harm to your computer at all. You don't need 1000W until you are in the realm of tri-quad GPUs.

i7 2600K @ 4.5GHz + GTX580 @ 875MHz pulls 387W from the wall while folding. That's not factoring in the lost efficiency which would bring the total even lower. (Prime+Furmark makes it pull 550)

I've actually seen some people SLI GTX 570's on a 650w antec PSU, all they do is avoid furmark and the PSU runs a little hot XD. Obviously its not recommended but a 850w will serve you just fine. I recommend a Corsair HX or a seasonic, but they're pretty much the same.

Thanks for the info. I did a psu calculator on newegg and it said sli gtx 570 with my setup would recommend a 800watt so I originally went with the Corsair AX850 PSU but didnt know if that would be enough. I guess I will go back to what I originally picked and save some money but will switch the 570 out and get the 580. Does anyone know why the maximus iv is out of stock everywhere its crazy. Also I really appreciate all the helpful inputs and no noob bashing.

The extra VRAM will help, and it's not a bad idea to get an 850w, as long as the price premium isn't much higher over a 750w.

And I won't n00b bash, because I was so blind I purchased an 850w to power a Quad and 4850. Now that's overkill

Ok so I got everything thing, took pics, installed everything and installed windows, the only thing Ive done was change my ram speed from 1333>1866 which is what the ram is rated to. Now I have been installing games via steam and have gotten around 4-5 BSOD, while in games they have froze or unexpectedly quit, and have gotten two messages saying that I need to change the visual settings of windows because I am out of resources. This is very frustrating what software should I run to test my equipment to make sure it is ok? I'm pretty new at this kind of stuff
