Depending on how many volts you are putting through that LED could effect the color of the diode. Just a thought though... the more volatge the 'hotter' the color (starts turning white and hot blue and such) and if not enough voltage is provided it wont be as bright... look dimmer... look DARKER.

Yea I didn't really look around to see if anyone else had a similar theme to what I wanted to do here. I am just building this for my 6 year old, as BumbleBee is his favorite Transformer. I am sure that "the other guy" has a little more experience with this than I do, but we will see how it comes out!

Truthfully, I have not been able to get a whole lot of this done lately, as the outside weather has been terrible where I live. There are some little garages at my apartment complex that you can rent, and I am about ready to give up on this Oregon weather and rent one so that I can finish my paint job. I have been cutting some metal, so I promise for you gearheads that there will be some eye candy to look at soon, when I have completed the phase of this mod that I am on right now.

I have also been messing with the LEDs quite a bit to see if I can get the proper color, and there has been no progress yet. I did get a whole bunch of resistors in the mail yesterday, so I will be working on finding the correct way to supply these with voltage to get the color that I am after.

Oh, and also, just wait and see what I did to this part:

Sub'd. Not to shabby so far! Although I have to say, all that sanding back to bare metal wasn't necessary.


GL with the LED's, if all else fails, you could wire them all into one molex plug separate of the fans.

Different color LED's require different resistances... Im pretty sure the voltage doesn't matter as long as its not too much to burn the little guy out. But I specifically remember that the colors take diff resisters along with the diff color LED i.e. to change the color in your fans youll need new LEDS and new resisters

I actually tried that, and they are still pretty orange. I am trying some different options with resisters, to see if I can get a little more juice to them. I have been able to get them brighter, but they are still orange. The sanding was needed really, there were several scratches on the case, which I would think would have left small depressions, as the scratches were down to the bare metal, and Thermaltake apparently puts quite a few layers of paint on these cases. I wanted a nice smooth finish, and so far that is what I have, so I am pretty happy that I did all the extra work.

Well, one of the guys from Frozen CPU says that to get the yellow that they depict in their pictures, they used a 12v source with a resistor on it. I think maybe I should find out from them just which resistor they used to get that color, and maybe I can expand it from there, as I need to run 4 LEDs off of each power source on the fans to do what I want to do.
