Here are some pics, painting the case matt black, but not plain solid. layer of clear coat ontop.

Original Case

Cut and sanded, ready to paint

Primer

Painted Black

The Paint

Simple fan grill taped off and painted silver

Drying in garage

I LOVE! how these fans turned out. they spin in solid silver and look generaly amazing.

Will keep updating once I figure out what I can do next.

This mod is basically being played by eye, if you have a good idea on what I should include, shout it out and if its not too redicilous, It shall be included.

All criticisms, suggestions and oppinions are welcome and appreciated.

Update Time!!

So I got excited to see what this case is going to look like assembled, so i tossed everything together, and I could not be happier.

The case is not done yet, but this is what I am using for the time being until the rest of my parts come in.

Yes the drives are slanted. Had to put them that way since they got in the way of the power connector. Had to move the video card a slot down into the second PCI-E slot, but this seems to make no difference (after driver reinstall) in terms of preformance.

Yes, this is just highlighter on the tops of the capacitors. Shrpie hilighters are UV reactive even though its not advertised, and creates a very sexy effect. (Yes i need to go over the caps a few more times for it to dry evenly)

A little teaser on what is to come.

Current issues:

Power cable to the motherboard is too short to reach the top connector on the board. are there extenders or something available or do I need to just cut the wires and extend them myself.

Fan, when mounted on the side of the case had this annoying wire to power it. How do you guys connect the wire, cuz I cant think of a clean and elegant solution other then passing a wire to the back of my case and constantly plugging the fan in and out every time I open the case.

Sorry about the Sub-Par picture quality. Cellphone and all. I will have beter pics in the coming days.

Just waiting on some more parts before the building continues.

Night shots coming soon.

As always, comments and criticism is much appreciated.

Hello.

Lookin' good.

There are ATX and 24-pin extensions available.

4-pin
8-pin
4+4-pin
24-pin

As for powering that fan on the case, you could mod a "contact" wherein there are contact points on the case-frame and the case-panel. When the panel is installed you will get continuity.

Syrillian, you sir are a life saver (and not the delicious kind)

Found a 4-pin extender at CanadaComputers which is by my house. Will have to pick it up this afternoon and can finally route the ugly wire behind the case.

Huzzah!

Now I will have to consider your suggestion about the fan. Do you have any links to anybody that has done that? I love the idea but i want to see how others implemented it before I jump to conclusions. (Edit: Office Space reference unintentional)

Thermaltake did this method that Syrillian suggested on one of there cases and it worked out really well. The biggest suggestion would be to make sure to use high quality contacts that won't break over use.

If it were me doing the contact option I would put a thin piece of foam tape on a section of the door and the case frame and then mount some flat metal contacts on that. The foam will keep pressure on the connection. I think some small flat washers with wire soldered to them would do the trick. You aren't going to be moving a lot of current just for a side panel fan.

My only issue is that the door is squeezed on pretty tight when it goes on. Currently I use a molex to power the fan and cathodes on the door (changed from pics, will post updates once I get home).

But yes, I think I will be attemption this trick.

Should i put the contacts on the front or the back of the door. Or maybe on the top or bottom edge of the case where the door slides against

I would put it somewhere between midway and up front on the bottom ledge, where the door sits. This way you can run the wires in the case along the bottom out of site. I also say midway to front because the fit is closer there than it is in the back where the screws are.

If the foam makes it fit odd perhaps a double layer of quality tape would work. You really only need something there to shield the contacts from shorting out on the case or door itself.

Subbed, looks good so far : ) I might be modding mine some more.
What purple cathodes are those? Brand and where'd you get them? I just ordered a pair of logisys from new egg and it seems like a lot of people were complaining they arnt that purple but your's look pretty good. Sorry if you already mentioned it I couldnt find anything.
Logisys CLK15-UV UV Cold Cathode LED Light 15IN

http://ncix.com/products/?sku=15583&...sys%20Computer

They are beautiful, i love the purple look much more then the generic "EveryCheapModHasBlueLights" look.

Sorry for the lack of updates, USMail ground post takes ages to send stuff to canada, so the ApogeeGT i7 bracket is still enroute.

Random note: The case, with all fans running on low dropped video temps and cpu temps by 5 degrees.

Question: I have a EVGA 3xSLI X58 board, which has a redecilously annoying fan, that i can hear over the dozen or so other fans in the case. Any recomendations for a fan replacement that is silent, or should i just take off the fan and rely on case flow (which is quite good) to cool the big fins that the fan is attahed to?

Cool, the ones I ordered are the same ones except 12". That makes me feel a little more confident because I was feeling a little uneasy with the complaints on newegg. I totally agree about how the purple looks a lot better than the generic blue. I just got a glass window made and had a really dark limo tint put on it and I'll have my purple cathodes behind it so it should look really slick. I'll post some pics when I get the cathodes.

Tator, you are correct about the board, and I will be taking the fan off once i get a little more work done. I have no doubts that after removing the behemoth of a hsf and putting on the water block the airflow from the top 200mm will be more then enough to not warrant an extra fan.

Hopefully by wed or thurs there will be much more pics. Work has been eating into my party and modding time!

Thx, waiting on those pics bud.

As for the power on the side, i saw a simple mod that uses a phone jack for power, since the connector is much smaller and cleaner looking. Will give it more thought though.

Update: I have obtained a Nvidia 9600GT to run alongside the 5870 for Physx.
Will try to have it in and running by next photo shoot.

Hope to get some work done over the weekend!

Sorry guys, had to work overtime this weekend and did not get much done.

Only got this so far

Put in the 9500GT as a PhysX card, and it seems to be working according to the FluidMark benchmark

As for the rest of the parts...
