Just a small build log of my Canadian Themed case mod inspired by another members Canadian Themed Build

I didn't start with any 3D models or sketches or anything like that, this mod is being done completely on the fly so it's completely open to suggestions. I plan to have this done well before the OCN LAN so I can show it off there.

I've decided to do both picture and video logs for the build. I'm using my Samsung Focus for both so that will be my excuse for the really crappy sound quality in the videos. There are a ton of photos to go through so they might not be up right away but you can see the next post for the video log and the third post for the complete photo log (be warned there are tons and they aren't scaled, hence the use of spoiler tags).

I've started using my Sony DSC-W370 for taking pictures as of the last update.

After attending the OCN Grand Champion Series LAN and Benchmarking Event in Toronto over Canada day, and AMD had a rep there who took some pictures of my Eyefinity setup (the picture above). He did a mini interview as well with me on camera along with DazMode himself as well.

AMD ended up posting an article yesterday featuring my setup:

Thanks, the videos don't do it complete justice, once I get the clear coat applied, I'll reassemble it for a quick picture.

Guess I should update the OP with the specs lol.

Well which pictures should I show? I figured there were too many to show all of them.

Ideally it is best to show all of them.

you should resize them before you upload them though, because 2560x1080 is MURDER on people with bandwidth caps or on low ram computers/mobiles.

Thanks, and I've settle on a Plexi side window shaped like a leaf, but I have no idea how to go about it...

My idea is to take the easy way our and cut a maple leaf shape out of the side panel, then just get a full size square piece of Plexi and mount it to the back of the side panel rather than cut the Plexi to shape as well.

Ordered the Xeon X3480 but my friend backed out on trading me his Maximus III Gene because he wants to keep it as a back-up for his dodgy ATX P55 board.

I did convince him to let me use his Maximus until I find a board though with the agreement that if his board fails, he gets the Maximus back ASAP.

So I'm now looking to OCN to help me secure either a Maximus III Gene, EVGA P55 Micro SLI, or any other really good quality mATX P55 board that is red and black to match the theme.

I'll be selling one, maybe 2 AMD bundles in hopes to help offset the cost of the new board and the CPU. Here's a link to the apraisals of the bundles, still trying to figure out if I want to sell both or not.
- Athlon II X3 bundle
- Phenom II X4 955 C3 Bundle

The front panel on Core is plastic (like on arc), right?
Thanks

As for the front panel, it is indeed platic and required a few more coats of paint to get the same color, 10 vs. 7.

As for prepping the surface:
- Clean with Distilled water and lint-free cloth
- Scuff up with some Scotch-Brite Pads
- Clean with Distilled water and lint-free cloth
- Sand with 2000 grit sand paper
- Clean with Distilled water and lint-free cloth
- Allow to air dry

Painting process:
- Place outside on stands
- Apply 4 light coats of paint within 1 hour with at least 10 minutes between coats
- Let cure at room temperature with good ventilation for 24 hours
- Sand with 2000 grit sand paper
- Clean with Distilled water and lint-free cloth
- Allow to air dry
- Apply 4 light coats of paint within 1 hour with at least 10 minutes between coats
- Let cure at room temperature with good ventilation for 48 hours
- Clean with Distilled water and lint-free cloth
- Apply 2 light coats of clear coat within 30 minutes with at least 10 minutes between coats
- Apply 1 heavy coat of clear coat within 30 minutes of the light coats
- Let cure at room temperature with good ventilation for 24 hours

As previously mentioned, you might need to add another few light coats to the plastic parts so they match the metal.

My recommendation is to choose a different color for the front panel, if I was to re-do this again, I would change the color scheme to:
- White for side panels and top
- Red for main part of front panel
- White for grills

Thanks, deeeebs had posted that link for me last night in IRC, but I had no idea what he meant by it, now I see the price over there. I'm not used to manufacturer's having products for sale on their site haha.

New vision

- Paint inside of case white
- Paint PSU White
- Red/White sleeving
- Repaint Coolit Eco CPU clock cover white/red
- Hole in side panel in shape of maple leaf with red LED lit plexi
- White GPU backplate with the Canadian flag painted on
- White cover for I/O panel with my name
- Right side needs the Project Maple Leaf name and a logo
- I have a vision of a full cover for the mothboard in white kind of like the Sabertooth TUF boards

Maybe I'll just start designing one for the Maximus since I have access to one temporarily. Once it's designed, it shouldn't be too hard to change the design to match another board.

The question is hot to secure it, and should I have the cover stick out far enough that I can get enough airflow to the caps and stuff. No doubt I'll be leaving cutouts for the chipset heat sinks.
