Alright, I've been thinking about a few things with my PS2, and I was wondering if anybody knows if there's a way to install an HDD without having to search for one of sony's kits on ebay. I think I might try to fool around with trying to install some of my games to it so I don't need my disks all of the time. Either that or figure out a way to have more than two GT4 or GT3 saves (I have two mem cards).

Store games on HDD is easy, you just need to have these.

1. Network Adapter
2. PS2 NOT SLIM
3. Computer HDD (prefer Maxtor brand)
4. Software for the PS2, HDLoader (or HDAdvance).

I heard you need to use a laptop harddrive? Is this true? If not I can always take out my Raid array and throw my spare Hd in there. IDE or SATA hard drive also?

Wait a sec, so you can load up ps2 roms on a standard hard drive and connect it to the ps2, and then you would be able to play the roms directly for the drive? But how do you connect it?

Well, if you get a USB external HDD, you can use it with the PS2s USB port, provided that the HDD has the right drivers on it. Where you download them I can't remember.

I forgot to mention what type of HDD is needed.
Since the Official Sony PS2 HDD that came with Final Fantasy XI is an IDE.
You will need an IDE HDD to connect to that Network Adapter.

No they are not ROM; you upload your game onto the HDD if you want faster load time or for convenient access.
It's allotted like the XBOX, except you don't even need to mod your PS2.

The hard drive for the PS2 flopped in general, but you can install regular hard drives to a PS2 nonslim with a network adapter just fine. You will, however, need a software disc that allows you to run games off your hard drive, but it is certainly possible.

Unfortunately, you can't use a regular hard drive on most games, which is really like 3 out of 5 that actually has support for a hard drive, so that doesn't even matter. SOCOM II does not detect regular drives.

how about just using the hdd for saving game data? I just bought a slim but no mem card. I have a 500gb usb drive i'd rather use then spend 25 bux for a mem card.
