My PS3 has just been sat on the shelf doing nothing but folding for weeks .. I went to play a blue-ray on it tonight and it seems it has melted sometime over the weekend.

For what it pulls in compared to the GTX 480's and 8800's, I should have maybe retired it.

I wonder what the warranty is on those things?

Ouch, that sucks man. Did it have good ventilation?

I guess if I ever fold with my PS3 I will take out any disc that is in it.

EDIT: Just re-read your original post, did the whole PS3 melt? Or just the blu-ray disc that was in it? I'm assuming it was the disc, as I would hope the PS3 unit itself has some kind of protection to shut itself down.

Wow. That sucks. I used to fold on it. Just haven't updated the firmware due to the homebrew etc that has now came out for it. If I update, I'll loose the ability to homebrew later on. Since I haven't updated = no folding from PS3.

That's pretty bad luck.

My PS3 Slim's been Folding almost non stop for a couple of months now... might turn it off to make sure this doesn't happen.
